Failed to load picturefrom file: reason: Failed to open file

This error message will be given if any of your images were not createdin the correct format or they are not the recommended size or color space. To ensure that your images are printed to our highest standards,it is crucial that they are saved and sized according to our recommendedspecifications.

File Format

All your photos, whether taken with a digital camera,or scanned, or developed from film and delivered toyou on a photo CD, must be saved in the jpeg fileformat and all photo files must end in .jpg or .jpeg.

If you are scanning photos, follow the directions below to save your photosas jpegs:
Scan the photo and select Save Asfrom the File menu option
Select .jpg from Save As type drop down menu
Save to a directory on your hard drive or desktop

Image SizeThe size of the photos you need ultimatelydepends on the size you use them on the final printedpage. Our MyPublisher software program will warn you ifyou have used a photo that has insufficient resolutionfor a size you have chosen.

In general, we recommend the followingphoto sizes as sufficient for the largest sizedphotos (one photo per page) in each of our products:
  Paperback PocketBooks: 800 ×600
 Classic Hardcover Books: 1200 × 900
 Deluxe Hardcover Books: 2272 × 1704

1.Scanned Images
We recommend that yousize the image to 12 in x 15 in at a resolutionof 180 dpi. If you scan an image at a lower resolutionthan 180dpi, it will not print sufficiently usingour press even if the image appears fine on yourmonitor. (Your monitor displays images at a resolutionof 72 dpi.)

2.Images from a Digital Camera

We recommend using photos takenwith digital cameras that are greater than2 mega-pixel and less than 7 mega-pixel. (Usea 5 mega-pixel digital camera for the bestresults.) Whatever camera you use, we recommendalways using the highest quality setting. You can always reduce the size of the photolater, but you cannot increase the resolutionof a photo shot on a lower setting.

NOTE: Photos taken with 7 mega-pixelor 8 mega-pixel digital cameras (or higher) willNOT reproduce well in our books unless they aredownsized. We do not recommend you use these photosin the MyPublisher software to create your book.

3.Square Images
The software requires that you maintaina 4 to 3 aspect ratio for your images. Squareimages that are placed into our image templatestend to distort in the printing. We recommendputting the square image into a photo editingprogram and create it with a border or backgroundso that it maintains the 4 to 3 aspect ratio.Inserting this now rectangular jpeg image intoour templates will be printed just fine as longas it fits the above recommended image settings.

Other Important Tips
Our press prints 175 lpi (lines perinch)
Use RGB or sRGB only when enhancing photos
Use RGB or sRGB for black and white photos also
Do not use CMYK, it will distort your images
Do not use vectors, layers, or slices
Our press does not recognizegrayscale. You need to create the jpegs in RGB or sRGB
Ourcolorprofile is closest to Adobe 98
